We are part of the Joint Low Temperature Laboratory established between the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the Charles University and the Institute of Physics of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.
We are mainly interesed in cryogenic fluid dynamics of normal liquid and superfluid helium, at temperatures close to the absolute zero. Basic properties of superfluid helium differ from those of classical liquids, allowing, e.g., the occurrence of quantum turbulence.
We investigate its flows by several experimental techniques, such as the response of oscillating bodies submerged in helium, the second sound attenuation technique or the flow visualization technique.
